Braised Fennel

Ingredients

bulbs
fennel
, sliced into 6 wedges
seeds
from two cardamom pods
, crushed
1/8
tsp
ground mace (or hot dry mustard)

salt and pepper

chicken broth

shallots (green onions, leeks, or onions

tbsp
butter

Equipment
Directions
Saute shallots, cardamom and other spices in melted butter. Make sure to use a pan which is oven safe and had a lid.
Add the fennel and turn it to coat in the butter mixture
Add chicken broth, bring to a boil
Place in oven for 30 minutes, basting occaisionally
Return to stovetop and return to a boil, about 15 minutes until thick.
