Carne Gisada Con Papas (Meat & Potatoes)

Ingredients

3lbs Round Steak, Cut into cubes
2lbs Potatoes, Cubed
115 oz Can of Tomato sauce,
1 1/2tsp Salt,
1/2tsp Black pepper, ground
1/2tsp Cumin, ground
1clove Garlic, smashed
1cup Water, To suit

Equipment

  • knife
  • Stew pot

Directions

  1. Cut round steak into cubes and brown in shortening in heavy skillet.
  2. Peel and cube potatoes (approx 1/2" cubes).
  3. Once meat isslightly browned add potatoes and continue to brown. (Don't worry if it sticks to the bottom of the skillet).
  4. Add tomato sauce, salt, pepper, cumin powder, and garlic. Add approximately one cup water and simmer until meat and potatoes are tender. Potatoes will thicken the sauce. Serve with Flour tortillas or bread.
