- Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees
- Empty cans of cherries into the 2quart pan, add sugar, nutmeg and flour. Cook until mixture is thick.
- Remove cherry mixture from the fire and let it cool for 15 minutes. Then place mixture in the 9 inch unbaked pie shell. Cover mixture in the pie shell with a pie curst, crimp the edges and vent the top. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar.
- Place filled pie pan on a cookie sheet, place in the oven and cook for 30-45 minutes
- Remove from oven and allow pie to cool to for 2 hours before serving.
