- Pour the warm water in a bowl. Add yeast and 2 tsp sugar. Let rest 3 minutes, stir with whisk, let rest 10 more minutes.
- Whisk together sugar, 3 1/2 cups flour, salt, nutmeg and zest in large mixing bowl. Make a well in the flour mixture, add the milk and eggs. Mix with wooden spoon, add 1/2 cup butter slowly, then mix well.
- Turn dough out on surface and work. Knead the dough into a ball with remaining 1 cup flour. Wash and coat the mixing bowl with butter. Let dough rise in bowl for 1 1/2 hours.
- Knead the dough and sprinkle with cinnamon, shape into a tube and connect the ends. Place the tube on a greased cookie sheet. Let rise for 45 minutes.
- Bake at 375 for 30 minutes, cool on wire rack.
- Make icing out of confectioner's sugar and lemon juice, color with purple, yellow and green. Enjoy!
